Bar 111 A scruffy pub with one large room. The windows at the front offer an entertaining view of the "activity" on the street in what appears to be the red light district!

Bells Hotel A pleasant and friendly pub. Stone floor and bare brick walls.

Cowper Wharf, Wooloomooloo Bay
Bourbon and Beefsteak An upmarket restaurant/bar. Live music Thursday.

Bridie O'Reilly's A large, multi-roomed, rather dark and dingy Irish bar. The menu looks good. Newcastle Brown on draught!

Chamberlain Hotel A quiet one room bar.

Coronation Hotel A scruffy down-at-heel two sided city centre boozer, the atmosphere here reminded me of Dixie Dean's Bar back in Liverpool. Another bar, pool tables and a bistro upstairs.

Off George Street
Covent Garden A nice busy atmospheric bar. Karaoke most nights. The tables outside make an excellent place for watching the passing scenery during the day!

Customs House A nice place to sit on the terrace and watch the "scenery" go by.

Frisco Hotel A nice one roomed pub. Pool tables. Quiz Tuesday.

Goldfish Bowl A large pleasant one room pub with windows all round overlooking the street.

Hero of Waterloo A rather splendid two sided stone walled pub, with live jazz from "the world's oldest band" when I visited. Draught Bass (Keg) A$6.50 a pint.

O'Malley's Hotel A nice Irish bar. Karaoke Thursday. Queue to get in on busy nights.

King's Cross
Orient Hotel A popular touristy up market watering hole in which the toilets are not up to the standard of the rest of the place. Pool tables upstairs.

Argyle Street, The Rocks
Paragon Hotel This nicely done out pub has a semicircular bar and no low seats, only stools and high tables. (There was a pile of seats in the corner, perhaps for use on the terrace later.)

Pyrmont Bridge Hotel A plain bar plus a bistro upstairs. The bar is open 24 hours a day (no alcohol served 07.00 to 09.00)

Scruffy Murphy's Usual fake but pleasant enough Irish bar, apparently popular with Irish expats. Live music most nights. Surprising Chinese menu from Paddy Kwok's Bistro!

Steyne Hotel A small bar, large dining area, pool room and pleasant beer yard.

Strand Hotel This bar is very lively and popular. Be prepared to queue. Karaoke Thursday.

Three Aces A tatty two-sided bar.

Elizabeth Street / Campbell Street
Wooloomooloo Bay Hotel A rather nice food and bar place with excellent live music in the evenings. Closes at 22.00. Don't forget to finish your evening with a pie and peas from Harry's Cafe de Wheels opposite - wonderful!
