DARTMOUTH | ||
The Alderney | A large pleasant pub with bare brick walls and pale wood tables and chairs, serving the local Garrison Brewery beers on draught. It was empty when I visited on a wet Saturday lunchtime and the two staff and one other customer were watching Deep Space Nine on the TV.

C'est Si Bon | Mainly a café (nice eggs benedict for breakfast) but they do have Alexander Keith's IPA on tap. Decor includes a pale tiled floor, pot plants a-plenty and (for sale) art on the walls.

Barrington / Prince |
Granite Brewery | They've got five beers on hand pump! The Bitter Special was very nice and I also tried the Peculiar which they say is derived from Theakston's Old Peculiar(sic), but they seem to have toned down the strength and flavour as well as the spelling*. Mind you, it is still a very nice dark ale. The food - I had pork tenderloin - is excellent.
* For those who don't know, the famous British beer being referred to here is Theakston's Old Peculier. Last visited April 2002. |
Barrington / Sackville |
Oasis | A plain plastic airport bar selling Rickard's Red in plastic pots. There's a separate, fully enclosed sin-bin for smokers.

Halifax International Airport, Gate 15 |
Old Triangle | A rather good and not too plastic Irish pub serving various local, regional and national brews, along with Guinness, Kilkenny, Smithwicks and Harp. You get a triangle instead of a shamrock in your Guinness here! Live music most nights.

Salty's | I was pleased to see only local beers on tap in this modern plastic dock-front restaurant/bar.

Stag's Head Tavern | Not really a pub, but part of the entertaining brewery tour at Alexander Keith's Brewery, recreating what the brewery tap would have been like in the 1820s.

Victory Arms | A very nice friendly hotel bar in the comfortable Nelson Hotel. Lots of draughts including at least five from Halifax breweries.
