Casbah The Casbah Coffee Club was the birthplace of the Beatles - they played here before the more well known Cavern. Now owned by ex-Beatle Pete Best, I'm told.

Hand pumpCains, John Smith's / 1664, Becks, Foster's A knocked round pub decorated very nicely in the modern style - even the air conditioner is painted pastel green. Very popular even on a midweek evening. There's a pleasant beer yard at the back, and also a function room upstairs.
Grade II listed building.

Boddingtons, Flowers, Tetley This unusual place should really count as two pubs in the guide! At the front is a slightly upmarket modern busy bar with a young clientele, lots of TV screens and very loud music. Or, go in the side entrance to find a traditionally decorated two room pub, much quieter but still busy. The enormous garden and crown green are well looked after, as is the rest of the pub.
