Kensington A beautiful two-sided pub with a small bar and a two room lounge side, traditionally decorated and retaining many original features. In 1999 this place was such a pleasant surprise in this area of plastic beer that the evening's plan - ten halves in ten pubs - was put on hold while we had a couple of pints of the house real ale, served by a waitress in the lounge! Sadly, revisiting in 2004 we found that the real ale had gone, and in 2009 I noticed it was closed. Returning in 2018 I was pleased to see the wonderful architecture continues to survive.

In 1999 I visited a rather splendid two-sided traditional pub. In 2007 I found it had been completely refurbished, sadly losing the original features and knocking through the two rooms into one. Located opposite the hospital, this pub was scheduled for demolition under the now abandoned Merseytram plans.

Picture Drome (Wetherspoon's) I visited at lunch time on Wetherspoon's very first day and already there were two or three handpumps with clips but no beer. The other pumps dispensed ale in excellent condition as one would expect from a Wetherspoon's. This ex-cinema has been totally gutted and very nicely done out with dark panelling and a high ceiling with lots of iron beams.
No longer a Wetherspoon's, the interior is unchanged but the real ales have gone.

Sir Walter Raleigh This nicely decorated and well cared for one room knocked through corner house is larger inside than the outside suggests. When I was last there they were installing a projector screen that seemed bigger than the pub!

A pleasant plain well cared for pub with one large room partially divided by walls. I visited during an England match in Euro 2004 and found the friendly locals all had painted faces, silly hats and hooters!
