Griffin John Smith's / Foster's In this impressive building the very nicely decorated large two-part lounge has eleven dartboards around the walls. (Luckily ten of them are purely decorative!) The plainer bar side is also well looked after.
When I passed in 2008 this appeared to be closed.   Live entertainmentDay5 Day6

John Smith's, Tetley / Carlsberg, Foster's, Stella A nicely decorated pub partially knocked through but with low walls and wide pillars to break up the space. LSTVs, a pool table and a small dance floor provide youth-oriented entertainment. There's a nice beer garden at the back.

Newmarket Tetley / Carlsberg, Foster's Outside this looks like a small street corner pub, inside there's two bars, side rooms and a large function room at the rear, all nicely done out. On the occasion of my 2014 visit most was closed for redecoration, leaving just the rather crowded front room.

Hand pumpMarston's EPA, Tetley / Carlsberg, Stella A rather nice one roomed pub with side areas, plus a separate restaurant. The only real ale on, EPA, was rather past its best on my last visit. The menu of standard pub fare is not cheap. The decor includes some nice dark wood panelling. B&B, function room.

John Smith's / Becks, Carling When I visited this nicely decorated two bar pub in 2003, it was in dire need of some care and attention and looked rather tatty in places.
Returning in 2010 I found it still fairly plain in decor but now spotless and well cared for.

Rams Head John Smith's / Carling, Foster's Friendly pub with a nice interior, with some splendid tiling. A historic layout in which the two room tastefully decorated lounge side is served from two "bay window" hatches at the back of the bar. The bar side is much plainer.   KaraokeDay5 Day6

Arriving at about 8 on a Monday evening I was startled to find this place buzzing with locals - One tends to find back-street pubs like this are getting quieter and quieter, but not this one.

Vulcan Inn Boddingtons, John Smith's / Carling, Foster's, Stella A rather pleasant boozer where the music stops and everyone looks round when a stranger walks in - I guess not many outsiders (Other than pub-guide researchers) ever travel to Vulcan Village! One large traditionally decorated open room around the counter, plus a pool room. Some pictures of the Vulcan Foundry and its products are on display.
