Aintree Golf Centre |
This golf course and driving range located slap bang in the middle of the racecourse, has a public bar, I'm told.

Totally fake but rather well done rustic decor in this large chain pub located on a retail park. The food, from a standard pub menu, looks good. They were doing a roaring trade when I visited on a Wednesday afternoon in 2010, less so on a Thursday in 2019.

The pleasant decor is rather hard to categorise in this enormous pub in the Hungry Horse chain, doing a good trade in food even on a Wednesday lunchtime in 2019, much quieter in 2024. The menu looks good value.

Old Roan
|
A plain well looked after boozer knocked through into one room. Naturally packed during "National" meetings, pretty empty and very green when I visited on St Patrick's Day afternoon. A large notice advises that "NO BASEBALL CAPS OR WOOLY HATS ETC ALLOWED".
Noted closed and tinned up in 2018.

Red Rum (Sefton) |
A plain clean and tidy two-sided boozer at the corner of Aintree Racecourse. Pretty empty on a Wednesday afternoon apart from a few friendly, if somewhat eccentric, regulars.
Now closed.

Toby Carvery (Rocking Horse) |
A large modern plastic pub, well looked after. Very quiet on a Wednesday afternoon. The hand pump on the bar is presumably decorative.
Not visited since it became a Toby.

Noted closed in 2008, but re-opened since, this is a rather fine two-sided pub, friendly clean and tidy.
