The traditional decor, all fake I think, is very well done in this large pub in multiple rooms partly knocked through, where they mainly concentrate on "sizzling" food.

This popular pub has a rather unusual layout, well cared for throughout. At the front is a very nicely decorated lounge with no counter and a plainer bar with a pool table. Further back on the lounge side is a second bar. There's also an attached Indian restaurant.

There are two bars plus a number of side rooms in this very pleasant well preserved traditional pub. I particularly like the proper bar counter with a gantry. Waitress bell pushes extant but not in use. Excellent real ales served. On a visit on a cold December Wednesday afternoon in 2010 I was startled to find the place busy, but sadly I found it much quieter on a Tuesday lunch time in 2014.
Although there is nothing truly spectacular inside or out from an architectural point of view I've always been especially fond of the appearance of this pub.
Noted closed "for redevelopment" in March 2018, but pleasingly it continues unspoiled.

CookHouse Pub and Carvery (Victoria)
|
In 1998 I described this place as youth-oriented and grubby. I returned to find a very nicely decorated large two-sided knocked round pub, full of customers of all ages, and serving real ale. More recently one side bacame a more up market restaurant. The food in the bar side looked good.
After refurbishment in July 2021 it became the CookHouse Pub and Carvery, very pleasantly decorated.

Micklehead Green

A fairly new "bypass" pub in the middle of nowhere, concentrating on the food and family markets, with a rather nice bare brick and wood beam interior. Beefeater food.
